Ithaca Intact Launch 3 June 2007

11 July, 2007 Councillor Geraldine Knapp launched Ithaca Intact with the Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, Councillor David Hinchliffe and invited guests.

Geraldine said the aim of Ithaca Intact, a SOWN initiative, was to restore and rejuvenate the whole creek from Mount Coot-tha to Red Hill over the next 3 years. The involvement of the community was paramount to the success of the project and along with a $10,000 contribution each from Councillor Geraldine Knapp and Councillor David Hinchliffe, Broncos Leagues Club had committed $10,000 to the restoration.

Residents and community groups wishing to become involved with this initative can visit this link to Save Our Waterways Now.

Ithaca Creek, running from the base of Mount Coot-tha to its junction with Enoggera Creek in Red Hill, has had extensive improvements over recent years. Community groups such as Save Our Waterways Now (SOWN) together with Brisbane City Council have removed weeds and replanted, particularly at Bowman Park, Ithaca TAFE and Woolcock Park. Ithaca Intact will build on this groundwork.
