K-9 Capers The Gap Event

K-9 Capers is a Community Education and Activity Program, educational and fun events, for the general public and their dogs.  Events consist of eight simply activities, including basic obedience, basic agility skills and some novelty activities.  No training in obedience or agility is requierd in order to participate.  the pet industry is represented at the events and provides samples and information.

K9 Capers provides Council with an opportunity to:

  • Reinforce key messages with regard to Council's Responsible Pet Ownership, and Active and Healthy Lifestyle programs.
    Provide information on the need to protect flora and fauna (especially koalas and birds) from uncontrolled dogs.
    Emphasise need to carry poobags when leaving home and to use in public places.
    Build relationships between dog owners and Council.
    Encourage the dog owning public to desex, mircochip and obedience train their pets.
    Encourage the use of Council's Off-leash Dogs Parks around the city, and to familiarise themselves with Off Leash Area (OLA) rules and etiquette.
    Encourage dogs owners to have fun with their dogs, whilst learning themselves and teaching their dog new skills.
