ITHACA INTACT - A Bold Innovative Project of SOWN

Ithaca Intact is an exciting new project with aims to restore and rejuvenate 7 kilometres of Ithaca Creek over the next 3 years. This project will be the first time the restoration of an entire creek has been attempted in the Brisbane area.
Ithaca Creek has already a number of dedicated community members working along its length. The project aims to link up all these groups and the individual land holders and provide them with additional advice and support to restore the wildlife habitat, remove key weed species and improve the water quality and amenity of the creek for future generations.
I have committed $10,000 per year over the next 3 years which is funded from again The Lord Mayor’s Suburban Initiative Fund: the Broncos also pledged $10,000 over a 3 year period to fund a coordinator for 2 days per week to implement the project.
All of this work will be supported by the Enoggera Creek Catchment Coordinator which was one of the great initiatives introduced by the Lord Mayor Campbell Newman.
