Bikeways provide an opportunity to encourage commuter and recreational cycling.
Ithaca Creek Bikeway was finally finished in September. Originally proposed in 1999, this $1.285m project which links Fletcher Parade bikeway under the JA Turner Bridge to the Esplanade and Lugg Street Bardon.
Not only will cyclists benefit from the construction of this section of the bikeway, but it now also provides a very safe pedestrian underpass under Jubilee Terrace, for the school children in particular, who can either walk or ride to Ithaca State School and St Finbarr’s Primary School.

New Fletcher Parade Bikeway
Over the next 4 years, there are still projects that need to be identified and listed for funding including more foot bridge crossing across creeks to make our bikeways and public transport more accessible. Two new crossing that have been listed are the crossing from Royal Parade at the end of St Johns Wood through to Greenlanes Road and a pedestrian footbridge on the western side of Illowra Street The Gap.
